Overview
Florida has no statewide air quality curtailment program for residential wood burning. The Florida Fire Prevention Code (based on IFC) governs fire features statewide. Open burning is regulated by the Florida Forest Service during fire seasons — burn bans in affected counties are common in spring and during drought periods. Local building permits are required for permanent masonry fire features and gas connections. Portable features do not require permits.
