Overview
Cleveland and Cuyahoga County have no regional air quality curtailment program for residential wood burning. Building permits for permanent fire features are issued by the City of Cleveland Building and Housing Department or Cuyahoga County Building Inspection for unincorporated areas. Cleveland's older urban neighborhoods have small lots where 25-foot setbacks can be difficult to meet for open fire pits.
